What exactly was he trying to demonstrate? That it does not look like a Bedouin tent or something? That there is no ISIS flags all over the place? Lebanon is probably the most Westernized country in the entire Middle East, probably on par with Israel in that regard.

He was trying to show his apartment. Possibly to show that he can. Or brag to his friends.

> probably on par with Israel

Nope.

https://www.google.com/search?q=israel+gdp+per+capita
37,292.61 USD (2016)

https://www.google.com/search?q=lebanon+gdp+per+capita
7,914.00 USD (2016)

That is 5x difference.

Life in Lebanon is, probably, comparable to provincial city in Russia (e.g. Kazan or Grozny).

"Westernized" is not measured by GDP per capita, and there is little correlation. E.g per capita GDP of Qatar significantly exceeds that of France.

Correct.

Not correct.
The correlation between GDP per Capita and how "Westernized" country is -- is quite strong.

> GDP of Qatar significantly exceeds that of France

While Qatar still not as "westernized" as France, Qatar is more westernized than Lebanon.

You must be out of your mind. Either you know very little about Lebanon and Qatar, or you have a very peculiar definition of "Westernized".

1) You are nitpicking.
There is a variety of photos both in Qatar and Lebanon:

https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=women+lebanon
Yes, in Qatar, on average, women cover themselves more than in Lebanon, but it is not uniform.

2) If you judge how westernized country is by how much skin women show, then Cambodia would be comparable to Germany or France:
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=women+cambodia
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=women+france
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=women+germany

3) There are many other factors that define westernization
------
https://www.google.com/search?q=westernized
westernized - cause (a country, person, or system) to adopt or be influenced by the cultural, economic, or political systems of Europe and North America.
------
Amount of open skin that women show - is just a small part of westernization.
You should compare education, technology, freedom of speech, medicine, crime levels, cultural tolerance.
Qatar ranks pretty high on that list.

Yep. Lebanon beats Qatar hands down in almost all of that. I am not saying it's an ideal place to live, but it is definitely light years closer to Europe than Qatar in terms of the "cultural, economic, or political systems", tolerance, and all that.

This is so ridiculous to assume that Qatar is more westernized than Lebanon, that I don't even feel like arguing seriously about it.
